GV57 Boat GPS Tracker & Bilge Alarm Installation Guide
Ensure your vessel is protected and monitored in real-time with this basic installation guide. This manual covers the core hardware wiring and initial software setup for the GV57 Marine Safety Bundle.
1. Pre-Installation Checklist
Before beginning the installation, make sure you have the following ready:
- Tools Needed: Wire strippers, electrical tape or marine-grade heat shrink tubing, zip ties, and a voltmeter.
- Power Compatibility: Verify your boat uses a standard 12V or 24V DC electrical system (the device supports an 8V to 32V DC range).
- Safety First: Disconnect your boat's main battery terminal before handling any electrical wiring.
2. Wiring Configuration Guide
The GV57 hardwired harness features color-coded wires that connect directly to your vessel's electrical and monitoring components. Follow these core connections carefully:
- Red (VCC) Constant Positive (+) Battery Terminal;
Supplies continuous power to the tracker. - Black (GND)Negative (-) Battery Terminal / Ground;
Completes the electrical circuit. - White (ACC)Ignition Switch / Keyed Power Source;
Detects engine status (on/off tracking behavior).
Connecting the Bilge Monitor & Alarm Components:
- Float Switch Integration: Connect the designated input wires from the tracker harness to your bilge pump's submersible float switch. This allows the system to monitor water level shifts and trigger high-water alerts.
- Audible Indicator: Route the secondary output to the included 12V dashboard buzzer alarm. This ensures you receive immediate, audible on-board feedback if the bilge level rises unexpectedly.
3. Device Placement & Mounting
To ensure peak performance and reliable network communication, adhere to these placement rules:
- Orient the Face Upward: Mount the tracker securely with the front face (LED side) pointing skyward for optimal satellite visibility.
- LED Status Verification: Check the integrated face lights once power is restored:
- Green LED: Flashing indicates an active 4G LTE cellular network connection.
- Red LED: Solid indicates a verified GPS signal lock. - Avoid Metal Shielding: Secure the IP67 waterproof housing using zip ties underneath the fiberglass console or dashboard. Avoid placing the device directly beneath massive metal brackets, which can block cellular and GPS reception.
4. Software Activation & Default Settings
Once the hardware is securely mounted and drawing power, finalize your system setup:
- Account Configuration: Log into your tracking mobile application or web portal to register the unique IMEI number found on your device label.
- Default Tracking Behavior: Out of the box, the GV57 is pre-configured to optimize data efficiency and power conservation:
- When Moving: Automatically transmits location updates every 5 seconds.
- When Stopped: Shifts into a power-saving deep sleep mode and transmits updates every 3 hours. - Alert Customization: Set up automated text or email notifications within your app settings for critical event triggers, including low battery warnings, power disconnects, high bilge water levels, and geofence boundary crossings.
